First state of the 20 engravings.
The set comprises “a frontispiece and 20 copper-engraved plates (210 x 85 mm), unnumbered”.
J. Thiebaud (Bibliographie des ouvrages français sur la chasse), says it is “very rare”.
The engravings represent horses, deers, cows, rabbits, bears, boars, dog, butterflies, ostriches, birds, ducks, swans, peacocks …
They are the work of Queen Elizabeth of England’s painter, Marcus Gheeraerts the Elder, born in Bruges towards 1530.
A work by a great artist in contemporary condition.
