Our history

Bathed in the world of old books since her childhood, Camille Sourget quickly decided on a career in the rare book business. After she finished her studies in Art History, she spent one year in London and then started to work in her parents’ prestigious bookshop in 2001.

Willing to broaden her knowledge of the various aspects of the profession, she spent one year and a half improving her knowledge of books at the greatest international book dealers’ side, in Paris and in New York.
In 2005, she moved back to Paris where she finally opened her own structure, looking forward to using her various experiences.

As a first step she gets her bearings opening a “bookshop-apartment”, then, in 2008, she decided to take the plunge by establishing a proper bookshop, at the 93 rue de Seine in the heart of Paris. And since 12 years now, this is where she welcomes you, with great pleasure. She specializes in: incunabula, voyages and travels, first editions, science, manuscripts, fine illustrated books, literature… Her area of expertise spans from the 15th to the 20th century. The bookshop Camille Sourget participates in various international fairs, and among them: TEFAF Maastricht, the New York Antiquarian Book Fair, the International Antiquarian Book Fair of Paris, Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris, China in Print in Hong Kong, etc.

The bookshop’s objectives are:

- to internationalize the market (to be in permanent contact with worldwide book dealers, to take part in all the important international book fairs in order to meet regularly her clients, to be extremely mobile and available for customers).

- to arouse interest with the publication of 3 catalogues every year as well as the broadcasting of an electronic newsletter for her followers presenting the schedule of the bookshop and its latest acquisitions.

- to develop a special reliable relationship with her clients by helping them to build a collection reflecting the interests and personnality, by giving them advice throughout their quest for rare books. To pass on her passion of fine books is probably her top priority.

- The bookshop Camille Sourget offers a total guarantee as for the books she sells: all the books offered for sale have been carefully collated first, and their rare defects are always mentioned. Competence, genuineness and honesty are our commitment to quality as a young and dynamic bookshop willing to provide its interlocutors with all the guarantees necessaries for their passion.
