First edition of this famous compilation of a travel made in the 102 French departments, edited in Paris from 1792 to 1802.

It is the first methodical attempt of description of France by departments.
Graesse, Trésor de livres rares, IV, 125 ; Cohen, Guide de l’amateur, 606.

The text of this work was written by Joseph Lavallée and J.-B. Breton.

The abundant illustration is composed of a frontispiece, of 105 watercolored maps on double page made by Brion père, and 333 beautiful aquatint figures out of pagination after Louis Brion. The engravings show views of French towns as well as costumes of the inhabitants of our regions.

Superb copy preserved in a uniform contemporary binding decorated with a thousand dots.

Complete copy with the 438 engravings announced. The volumes having been printed over 8 years, the number of engravings per volume may vary depending on the copies and even inside each volume. Copies complete of the 13 volumes like this one are extremely rare. We haven’t found any recorded on the public market these past thirty-five years.
