Preserved in a very sophisticated binding specially executed for this work, ivory box calf decorated on each cover with a large figurative composition in mosaic pattern in the shades of red, pink, orange and green, figuring a scene with a dragon, flat spine, untrimmed, top edge gilt, printed wrappers and spine bound in. Binding signed Georges Baudin.

The present copy belongs to the 288 copies printed on papier vélin à la cuve des manufactures Blanchet et Kléber and bears the n°83.
A superb luxury volume dedicated to the Siamese life and containing 50 plates in colours including 10 in full-page, 2 illustrations on p. 7 and 175 not inclmuded in the table of illustrations. It is also illustrated with framings, decorated letters, headlines, tailpieces, … in colours and gold.
Joseph de la Nézière (1873-1944) was a remarkable painter-traveler, member of the Society of Geography. His travels from where he brought sketches drove him many times in the East between 1901 et 1910 and in North Africa.
A wonderful execution, with curious details borrowed from the documents of the country which form something very new and rare, and give the whole work a great artistic interest.
A noteworthy book for its illustrations by de La Nézière, painter and illustrator from the beginning of the 20th century.
A precious copy wonderfully contemporary bound in ivory box with mosaic patterns by Georges Baudin.
Georges Baudin is a painter, wood engraver, illustrator, decorator, and book binder born in Paris on June 26th, 1882. He exhibited at various annual fairs in Paris from 1913. He illustrated literary works, often with love character. He had an important activity in the art of bookbinding, notably in colour on parchment.
